More girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century. Across the developing world, women and girls are discriminated against, and disproportionately affected by poverty and all of her downstream effects. As we examine global poverty, it can be rightly said that the key to economic progress may very well be unleashing women’s potential.
