Conversations For the Common Good: Shame/Vulnerability and Other Words that Scare Us

  • The Bier Abbey 613 Union St Schenectady, NY, 12305 United States (map)

In a world that is so often divided by political lines,  personal interests, and religious beliefs we often lose sight of the common good that we can pursue together. “Common Good” is anything that increases the well-being for all people without harming others. Join us for a series of discussions about various topics that promote the common good.

Each event will go from 7-9pm and will take place at the Bier Abbey (613 Union St.).

Brene Brown, a shame and vulnerability researcher, has almost become a household name. Her Ted talks have been watched over 19 million times and she recently did a series with Oprah on the OWN network. Clearly she is saying something that is resonating with people all over the world.

Join us as we have a discussion about her latest book, Daring Greatly. There will be a brief overview of some of her content and then a discussion where we look at what it means for us to walk in this world prone to vulnerability and still live full, “wholehearted” lives. You do not need to read the book ahead of time to participate in the discussion.
